Rose and Ellen 's Garden Trail
Included in normal garden admission, ask for our self -led trail at the Welcome Centre .
Follow our Rose & Ellen Trail and learn about Rose & Ellen’s Spetchley Gardens.
Over 100 years ago, Spetchley Park was owned by Mr Robert Valentine Berkeley, but its beautiful gardens were the domain of his beloved wife Rose (younger sister of celebrated Edwardian horticulturalist Ellen Ann Willmot).
Rose’s skill as a plantswoman, designer, breeder and exhibitor of plants is sometimes overshadowed by Ellen’s fame, but even today evidence of her vision for the gardens can be found within the Cork Lawn and Fountain Gardens where she grew and bred daffodils, the herbaceous borders surrounding the Kitchen Garden and the quiet places such as Lovers Walk where her children would play on a sunny summer’s day.
We invite you to seek out these and other insightful areas on the especially dedicated Rose & Ellen trail.
