The autumn garden is a picturesque and serene haven, showcasing a rich tapestry of colours and a sense of calm transformation.

As you enter the garden, you are greeted by a rich palette of trees and shrubs once lush and green now turning into a fine array of reds, oranges, yellows and bronze.

In the flower borders, late blooms such as chrysanthemums, asters, and dahlias put on a show of bright pink, purple and white providing a final burst of colour before the first frosts set in.

The air is crisp and cool, with the sound of birdsong a cheerful accompaniment as you wander through the copse and lower lawns, their closing chorus as they stock up for migration or the cooler months ahead.

Underfoot, the satisfying crunch of fallen leaves line the garden pathways, a breeze causing a further cascade to gently flutter softly to the ground. The sunlight, now lower in the sky, casts a warm glow over the entire scene and forms shadows that highlight artful textures and shapes new to the eye.

The autumn gardens and woodland are a place of quiet reflection and preparation, reminding us of the cycle of life. The evergreens will continue to provide balance and structure throughout the coming months, but for now the garden is a place of vibrant beauty and yet a landscape that is on a slow down to the quiet months and stillness of Winter.
